Our Campaign (click here to go directly to the Indiegogo campaign page)
Hello, we’re Dittany Rose and Rebecca Scambler. Dittany is an educational consultant and jewellery designer and Rebecca is an illustrator and designer.
As friends we quickly discovered a mutual passion for political engagement and a strong desire for a fairer society. We are hugely inspired by the work of the campaigning group 38 Degrees and approached them with the idea of raising money for them through the sale of a T-shirt we designed. They loved the idea and our campaign is now a reality!
If you’ve ever clicked on a social media campaign you’ll be aware of what an important contribution organisations like 38 Degrees make to our democracy. If you share a desire for a more progressive, fairer, better society, help support 38 Degrees by buying one of our T-shirts today.
Our T-shirt design promotes a message of hope and change that will make a great gift for socially and politically conscious friends and family. We are aiming to raise £1000. Pledge to buy our T-shirt for £20 and all profits will go to 38 Degrees. We’ve worked out that as a minimum we’ll be able to contribute 38% from each T-shirt – that’s £7.60 – hence our campaign title. The more we sell, the greater our margins will be and the more we can give to 38 Degrees (we are donating all our time for free).
What We Need & What You Get
We have chosen the flexible funding model on Indiegogo so that you will get your T-shirt whether we reach our target or not. The campaign will finish on the 13th November and we guarantee that all T-shirts will have been sent out to you by the 10th December.
Each T-shirt costs £20 and from that we need to pay for:
- the T-shirts
- printing costs
- postage and packaging
- indiegogo charge of 5%
- card or pay pal charges
- 38% (or more) donation to 38 Degrees
The design is printed in bright orange and light grey on a dark grey cotton T-shirt. We offer a classic men’s/unisex T-shirt and a women’s fit. Both are organic and carbon neutral, being made in a factory in India that runs on renewable energy. The manufacturers are members of the Fair Wear Foundation and are certified under GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) The designs are then printed in the UK by an organisation that is a living-wage employer.

The Impact
Our design is based around the inspirational phrase ‘be the change you want to see in the world’. Like 38 Degrees, we believe in the power of the individual to make a difference. The use of the word ‘change’ also links to the 38 Degrees’ slogan ‘people. power.change.’
38 Degrees is proud of the fact that it does not take money from political parties or from big business. In this way it can maintain its independence. By buying a T-shirt as part of our campaign you are helping 38 Degrees to remain a much needed independent voice in the political discourse of the UK.
You’ll also be spreading the word by walking around with the 38 Degrees logo emblazoned on your chest for all to see.
Timescales
We have launched our campaign now as we think that not only might you want to buy a T-shirt for yourself, but that it would make a great Christmas gift. We realise however that getting your T-shirts to you in time is of key importance. That is why we will finish the campaign on the 13th November. This will allow time for us to print and send you your T-shirt by the 10th December at the latest.
Other Ways You Can Help
We understand that not everyone will be able to contribute by buying a T-shirt but that doesn’t mean that you cannot help. Sharing this page on social media and making sure that you tell friends and colleagues about our campaign is invaluable support. You can find out more about 38 Degree on their website www.38degrees.org.uk
